This introductory training on the New York City shelter system for families and single adults will cover the right to shelter, the shelter application and intake process, and rights and obligations of shelter residents. The training will offer an overview on the different types of shelters and the rules governing eligibility and documentation requirements. There will be a discussion on reasonable accommodations, impact of shelter residence on Cash Assistance and SSI, and troubleshooting and advocacy resources for shelter clients.
