"On average, 24 people per minute are victims of rape, physical violence, or stalking by an intimate partner in the United States." That adds up to over 12 million people per year. These findings by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention only begin to tell the story of the pervasive reach of domestic violence. Its physical and psychological impact on individuals can last a lifetime, and its aggregate effect renders it a major public health issue.
Those affected by domestic violence need your help. In the Family Justice/DV practice area, you will find online training materials and model pleadings, news and events in domestic violence of interest to DV practitioners, and opportunities to represent someone in need. The site is hosted by experienced and talented lawyers at the leading domestic violence advocacy groups in New York City, and they are waiting to welcome you to their online community. Join today.
