  • Family/DV

In June 2020 the United States Supreme Court issued its landscape altering ruling holding that it is unlawful sex discrimination to fire someone based upon their gender identity or sexual orientation status.  Additionally, New York State’s GENDA and its supporting regulations, as well as some local laws, have expressly prohibited employment discrimination against LGBTQ people. This program will provide participants with an overview of the recent US Supreme Court decision, as well as New York’s specific protections for LGBTQ workers.   We will also discuss the implications of these protections on LGBTQ survivors of intimate partner violence and abuse.
