Join us for a FREE three-part series geared toward familiarizing legal practitioners with best practices for representing transgender and gender non-conforming immigrants.

Tuesday, December 10 | 6 - 8 pm
Module 1: TGNC* Cultural Competency for Immigration Practitioners, including best practices for communicating and working with community members who may have experienced a great deal of trauma and discrimination, both in their home countries and in the United States.

This training will cover:

  • A general overview of LGBTQ and TGNC cultural competency, language around gender expression and identity, and practice pointers on asking questions around sexual orientation, gender identity, and gender expression.
  • Best practices for working with TGNC immigrants around questions of gender identity and expression, and an overview of cultural differences in understanding of gender identity, sexual orientation, and queer identity.
  • Enhanced understanding of working with TGNC immigrants who may have experienced severe and prolonged trauma, and suggests best practices on specific techniques.
