This virtual series is for attorneys, casehandlers, and social workers of all experience levels from any practice area. The series will examine debt collection protections before, during, and after litigation, various types of consumer debt reporting, fair banking rights for individuals, how to identify and avoid debt traps, and New York’s newly enacted protections for victims of coerced debt. The sessions will also provide information on community and legal resources for clients burdened by consumer debt. This series is currently available to IOLA grantee organizations only.

- CLE Credit Comments: The Legal Aid Society has been certified by the New York State Continuing Legal Education Board as an Accredited Provider of continuing legal education in the State of New York. Each program has been approved for 1 CLE credit toward Professional Practice in accordance with the requirements of the Continued Education Board. This course is appropriate for both new and experienced attorneys.
