Non-citizens facing removal are in need of competent and knowledgeable representation. Studies have shown that those without legal representation face a significantly higher risk of removal, regardless of eligibility for relief. Trained counsel and pro bono attorneys can help fill the need for representation. At this program, expert practitioners will provide a comprehensive, nuts and bolts overview of the laws and policies governing removal and potential avenues for relief and best practices.

What You Will Learn
After completing this program, participants will be better able to:

• Understand the removal process, new developments, and the intersection with key forms of humanitarian relief including asylum, SIJS, and U and T visas
• Focus on the nuts and bolts of cancellation of removal
• Review the intersection of criminal defense and immigration practice
• Understand detention risks and practice strategies for representation
• Analyze ethical issues and immigration law

This program will benefit new and experienced attorneys who represent or who are interested in representing non-citizens who are facing removal proceedings.
