A Post-Housing Crisis Look in the Mirror: Challenges and Opportunities for Residential Development and Affordable Housing

Topics:
  • Housing

This program will explore changing patterns, demands, and challenges for residential development, with a look to where our communities are now, post-Housing Crisis, in terms of current obstacles and regulatory constraints as well as opportunities.

The speakers will discuss challenges faced by cities with declining populations (such as Detroit) as well as challenges faced by urban areas with increasing populations and limited spaces, which drives up housing costs. The program Faculty will provide tools available to local governments, government entities (including land banks), and developers to address these problems and meet housing demands—including the evolving role of public-private partnerships.
