You must be an attorney at one of inMotion's Corporate Partner firms in order to participate in this training.

Attorneys will be trained to represent immigrant women who are domestic violence victims and who are eligible for Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) protections in immigration proceedings. Procedural and substantive aspects of these cases will be discussed in detail. Training manual and sample documents will be provided.

VAWA cases typically consist of two stages: an initial petition on submission and an adjustment interview before an administrative body. Pro bono attorneys handling VAWA cases are required to handle their clients' cases through both phases, as well as the immigration cases for their clients' children who may be living abroad or in the United States.

Attorneys are expected to commit to taking a case pro bono, either individually or as part of a team, if not already handling an immigration case referred by inMotion. Experienced inMotion staff attorneys mentor and consult with pro bono teams throughout the course of representation.
