Advocating for Borrowers with GSE Loans

Topics:
  • Foreclosure

The Government Sponsored Entities (GSEs), Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, own or insure almost 45% of all outstanding debt secured by 1-4 family residences. Both GSEs promulgate guidelines governing servicing standards and loss mitigation programs for their loans. These guidelines create both challenges for borrowers and opportunities for effective advocacy. This training will teach advocates the servicing standards unique to Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac loans and how to use those standards to their clients' benefit. It will also cover the GSE-specific loss mitigation programs, including the new Streamlined Modification programs launched by both Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae.
