Young & McCormack: Not letting a language barrier get in the way of justice

A woman goes to court for a personal protection order against her violent husband. But she can’t speak English, and the court doesn’t provide an interpreter. So her abusive spouse interprets for her during the court hearing.

A non-English speaking couple is going through a bitter divorce, including a child custody battle. And because there is no court interpreter available, the child who’s caught in the middle of this sad struggle interprets for her feuding parents.
