Upcoming Hurricane Preparedness Conference Focus on “Are You Ready?”

"The main focus of Saturday’s Hurricane Preparedness Summit Conference will be “Are You Ready?” when the next disaster—whether in the form of a hurricane, a tornado, a flood—strikes Lenoir County.

“While in the past several years, our concern has been drawn to hurricanes and flood waters,” remarked Rev. Hank Jarman, chair of the Kinston Area Recovery Efforts (KARE) “but our overall concern is “Are We Ready? if the disaster comes dressed as a tornado, or just high water, or a combination of Mother Nature’s abilities.”

“It’s not a matter of IF, but a matter of WHEN,” he stressed, speaking on behalf of the Lenoir Association of Congregations, the founder of KARE within months of the 2016 Hurricane Matthew and its flood waters, and the sponsor of the Preparedness Summit Conference set for Saturday, July 20, 2019 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Lenoir Community College’s gym..."
