Elder Law Day Offers Playbook for Financial, Healthcare Decisions

"Elder Law Day, being held today at the Millennium Hotel in Cheektowaga, is once again offering an all-in-one event for older adults, their families and caregivers to get up-to-date information an health, financial and legal matters from Buffalo are legal experts and community organizations.

“The thing that we are most serious about [and] making sure that we do is to have information on long-term care, so that people can come with their families or with their caregivers, their friends, and get up-to-date and accurate information on Medicare, on VA benefits, on Medicaid, on patient rights, just the latest of what’s going on,” said Jennifer Wood, Erie County’s assistant coordinator of neighborhood services, who has helped set up Elder Law Day for the past five years or so

The day consists of three 45-minute presentation blocks that feature 12 seminars ranging from “The Ins-and-Outs of Estate and Long-Term Care Planning” to “Elder Voices for Patient Safety” to “Qualifying for Medicaid.”..."
