Hotline Created to Answer Questions About Water Settlement Checks

"A nonprofit law firm is adding a hotline for West Virginia residents who receive public assistance and are looking for more information about settlement payments from the 2014 water crisis.

Legal Aid of West Virginia announced its hotline Monday, days after settlement checks were mailed out to people who filed “simple residential claims.”

Nearly 200,000 residents and businesses will receive checks totaling about $73 million.

The settlement is supposed to cover people who were told not to drink, clean with or bathe in the water for days after the 2014 Kanawha Valley water crisis..."
