With $20 Million Raised, Time's Up Seeks 'Equity and Safety' in the Workplace

"Time's Up, the multifaceted initiative formed by more than 300 women in Hollywood to stamp out sexual harassment across industries, has already raised $20 million for its legal defense fund--and it's fight has only just begun.

The mission is simple: "Equity and safety in the workplace," said Time's Up member and entertainment attorney Nina Shaw, in conversation at the fourth annual Makers Conference in Los Angeles, Calif., a gathering organized by the Verizon-owned feminist media brand.

Since launching a month ago, the movement's fund has received more than a thousand requests for legal assistance from vulnerable employees alleging workplace abuse. In addition to the 20,000 donors who have given dollars, some 200 lawyers have signed up to offer their services for the fund which is administered by the National Women’s Law Center..."
