ICE Wrongly Restricts Detainee Access To Legal Aid, Suit Says

 

"A legal service organization that works with detained immigrants hit U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement with a lawsuit Thursday, challenging a new written policy that the group argues wrongly restricts access to legal aid.

According to the complaint, filed in D.C. federal court by the Dilley Pro Bono Project, attorneys and aides visiting immigrants in detention at the South Texas Family Residential Center are allowed to use visitation rooms to make confidential, case-related phone calls leading up to credible fear interviews in asylum applications."
