No, courthouse doesn't have self-help center (OH)

Dueling op-eds in The Enquirer recently may have created confusion about what help is and isn't available in Hamilton County for those trying to navigate a complex justice system. Far too many people who appear before us are poor, uneducated, unfamiliar with the justice system or illiterate.

Clerk of courts candidate Aftab Pureval recommended the creation of a self-help center, whereas incumbent Tracy Winkler and Administrative Judge Jon Sieve outlined legal assistance already available.

Here's additional background: In March 2015, the Supreme Court of Ohio issued a report specifically recommending the creation of self-help centers (SHCs). It said SHCs should be promoted “to respond to the needs of those who are unable to afford legal services.” SHCs, usually located in the courthouse, have staff who help folks who do not have lawyers..."
