Local communities live united: United Way invests in regional programs. (KY)

"United Way of Southern Kentucky announced on Thursday that it will invest $947,666 in education, income, health and safety-net programs in 10 counties including Barren, Metcalfe, Monroe and Hart.
Barren County will receive $42,229; Metcalfe, $4,120; Monroe, $4,546; Hart, $7,262, according to a press release. Warren County will receive $623,997; Allen, $75,100; Butler, $18,324; Edmonson, $13,222; Logan, $120,663; Simpson, $38,203.
“This has been a long journey,” said Brad Odil, chairman of the board of directors for UWSK, at a press conference on Thursday afternoon at The Foundry Christian Community Center. “At least four years getting us here to this point today to where we can announce to you some allocations that are gonna’ change lives throughout southern Kentucky."
