Free legal advice available for flood victims (TX)

Thursday, April 28, 2016

"The Lone Star College System is holding several free workshops over the coming days to give advice to flood victims, the college said Thursday.

Board of Trustees Chair Linda Good and attorneys with non-profit Lone Star Legal Aid, which provides free legal services to low-income people, will hold the workshops, according to the community college.

"Navigating through resources available to help disaster victims, especially those who are low-income and/or uninsured/underinsured, can be overwhelming," the college system said in a statement.

Flood victims must deal with insurance and see if they qualify for federal emergency relief dollars. They may also have to make repairs on their homes, which may require special permits and inspections."
