De Blasio presses state for help with homeless victims of domestic violence (NY)

"Mayor Bill de Blasio is calling on the state to include domestic violence victims in a rental assistance program that he said could help thousands of people avoid entering homeless shelters over the next five years.

De Blasio, senior administration officials, City Council members and the heads of organizations serving domestic violence victims met Wednesday afternoon in City Hall’s Blue Room to talk about what they see as a need for a change in state law, which would include victims of domestic violence among those eligible for a state rental subsidy program called the Family Eviction Prevention Supplement."
