Two Attorneys at Capes, Sokol Selected for Missouri Bar Pro Bono Wall of Fame

Stephen G. Davis and Sheila Greenbaum Honored for Pro Bono Service Commitments

St. Louis, Missouri...Attorneys Stephen G. Davis and Sheila Greenbaum of law firm Capes, Sokol, Goodman & Sarachan, P.C., have been selected for the 2014 Missouri Bar Pro Bono Wall of Fame, a distinction that honors lawyers for their commitments to providing pro bono legal counsel for individuals and community organizations.

Missouri Bar President Reuben A. Shelton said, "It is with the utmost respect and admiration that we congratulate you for making one of the highest ideals of the legal profession an integral part of your practice and for serving as examples of professionalism to fellow lawyers and the public."

Gary Sarachan, a founding shareholder of Capes, Sokol and co-chair of the firm's Pro Bono Committee, said, "We are pleased that Stephen G. Davis and Sheila Greenbaum have been recognized by the Missouri Bar for their commitments to providing pro bono legal counsel. All attorneys at our firm are committed to our Pro Bono Program, which provides legal services to people of limited means or to community organizations in matters designed primarily to address the needs of people of limited means.

"In addition, our Pro Bono Program provides legal services to individuals or organizations dedicated to protecting or securing civil rights and civil liberties. The program is part of our firm's commitment to ensuring access to the legal system and achieving justice for all individuals and community organizations," Sarachan said.

Stephen G. Davis is a trial lawyer who represents businesses, individuals and not-for-profit organizations in a variety of disputes in Missouri and Illinois state courts. Many of his litigation matters involve contract disputes, fiduciary disputes, real estate disputes, mechanic's liens, unfair merchandising practices and fraud. Davis represents both plaintiffs and defendants, and advises clients proactively to prevent or minimize litigation, yet, where necessary, he draws on his experience to vigorously represent client interests.

Davis earned a J.D. cum laude from Washington University in 2011, a B.A. cum laude in History from Columbia University (2006) and a B.A. cum laude in Jewish History from the Jewish Theological Seminary (2006).

Sheila Greenbaum chairs the Capes, Sokol Appellate Law Practice group and is a highly regarded practitioner in appellate law, civil litigation and government law. She represents individuals, businesses and nonprofits in state and federal appellate matters, complex civil litigation and governmental program and agency matters. She is admitted to practice before the U.S. Supreme Court and all Missouri state and federal courts.

Ms. Greenbaum's professional distinctions and awards include the Martindale-Hubbell® Law Directory AV® Preeminent™ Peer Review Rating; the St. Louis Woman of Achievement Award for Social Justice (2013); the Women's Justice Award for Public Service Practitioner in Missouri (2010); and the ACLU Civil Liberty Award (2009).

Ms. Greenbaum earned a J.D. with distinction from the University of Missouri-Kansas City in 1974 and a
B.A., Psychology, from Case Western Reserve University in 1971.
