Members of the public and the legal profession are invited to serve on a State Bar of California task force that will study the gap between the need for civil legal assistance by low- and middle-income Californians and current resources available.
The deadline for applications is Feb. 3.
A series of public hearings will be held by the task force this spring and summer to gather comment from groups that have struggled to expand access to justice. The task force will look at what has succeeded, study solutions from other states and countries and develop a plan to combat the problem.
