The American Bar Association Standing Committee on Legal Assistance for Military Personnel seeks a law student intern for the summer of 2013 to provide legal support for programs focused on servicemembers, veterans, and their families. Projects include work on the ABA’s national Military Pro Bono Project, development of publications, legal and policy research and writing, and coordination with external military and veterans’ groups.

This is an unfunded internship. However, the Equal Justice Works AmeriCorps-funded Summer Corps offers law students a $1,175 education award for providing at least 300 hours of service specifically for military and veterans during the summer of 2013.  To learn more about Summer Corps, please look at the Summer Corps page. Applicants are encouraged to apply Summer Corps right now to become part of the 2013 class. Applications are currently being reviewed on a rolling basis through March 18, 2013. Applicants, at their own direction, may also acquire funding from other sources as appropriate.

Applicants should submit a cover letter and resume by email to Jason Vail, jason.vail@americanbar.org by March 8. Questions may also be directed to Jason Vail at the same email address or by phone at 312-988-5755.
