DLA Piper is pleased to announce that the Chicagoland Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure® has selected Alan Greenfield, associate in firm’s Chicago office, for the inaugural class of “Pink Tie Guys.”

The debut class will be honored at the Tribune Media Group’s Pink Tie Gala on October 13 in Chicago.

Chaired by Mayor Richard M. Daley, this exclusive group of 13 men making a difference in the fight against breast cancer was nominated by the community and selected by the Komen Chicagoland Board of Directors. The group will serve as ambassadors for Komen Chicago for 2012 and includes prominent leaders in the corporate and philanthropic sector, groundbreaking physicians, elected officials and other individuals committed to finding a cure for breast cancer.

“Alan’s commitment to the fight against breast cancer and unyielding dedication to supporting Susan G. Komen for the Cure has been nothing short of extraordinary,” said William A. Rudnick, co-managing partner of DLA Piper's Chicago office. “We are proud that he has chosen to further support the organization by joining the Pink Tie Guys and look forward to his ongoing contributions to this cause.”

Since joining DLA Piper in 2006, Greenfield has dedicated considerable time and effort to building and orchestrating a firm-wide pro bono relationship between DLA Piper and Susan G. Komen for the Cure. He serves as the firm’s primary liaison to the Komen organization, coordinating with DLA Piper attorneys across the country to provide pro bono assistance to affiliates in several cities.

In addition, Greenfield currently serves as outside general counsel to the Baton Rouge, Chicagoland, Northeast Ohio, Miami/Ft. Lauderdale and South Florida affiliates. He regularly assists the organization’s national headquarters and regional affiliates with various issues and agreements that are essential to the Race for the Cure® Series and other fundraising efforts.

“I am honored to serve with this prestigious group of leaders dedicated to helping those afflicted by this terrible disease,” said Greenfield. “Having provided pro bono services to Susan G. Komen for the Cure for the past seven years, I have witnessed first-hand the organization’s profound impact on raising funds and awareness to help end breast cancer. I look forward to continuing to further this mission, while working to expand the scope and depth of DLA Piper’s overall support of the organization nationwide.”

At DLA Piper, Greenfield is a member of the Franchise and Distribution practice group and concentrates his practice on domestic and international business, licensing and franchising matters. He regularly works with both experienced and startup franchise companies in structuring franchise programs, as well as franchisors and manufacturers on compliance and other franchise or distributor-related issues. Greenfield also works extensively on international franchising, licensing and distribution transactions.
