Domestic Abuse Legal Advocacy Center, PSC ("DALAC")

Domestic Abuse Legal Advocacy Center, PSC is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that provides pro bono legal services to victims and survivors of domestic violence at shelters our organization collaborates with in Minnesota.

We are currently in need of volunteer attorneys for in-court representation of clients on Order for Protections and eviction expungements. Representation is in person and the commitment varies depending on the case. However, volunteer attorneys should expect that the commitment will be a minimum of 30 hours per case for an Order for Protection and a minimum of 10 hours per case for an eviction expungement as we focus on providing trauma informed legal services. We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit law firm. Therefore, volunteer attorneys must follow all ethical obligations, including maintaining the confidentiality of the cases from their private practice/employment. In addition, volunteer attorneys are responsible for the case from the start of it through the end of it and must follow all ethical obligations regarding representation. Experienced volunteer attorney attorneys are available as mentors to second chair (not to try the case, but to advise, guide, train on best practices and mentor). In addition, trainings are available throughout the year, which include free CLE credits. Attorneys who are interested in gaining courtroom experience or advancing their skills in litigation are encouraged to volunteer.
