Community Justice Project

The Community Justice Project (CJP) is a non-profit, public interest legal aid program with offices in Harrisburg, Pittsburgh, Reading, Scranton, and Hazleton. Our mission is to protect and expand the civil rights of low-income people throughout Pennsylvania, except Philadelphia. On behalf of its clients, CJP vigorously enforces laws that protect civil rights, in areas like housing, education, and employment. CJP also participates with many local groups in training and advocacy initiatives to assist families, particularly in the areas of welfare, childcare, and transportation. Through class action litigation, legislative lobbying, and innovative advocacy, CJP fights the systems and policies which hurt low wage and unemployed families in the Commonwealth.
