Immigrant Law Center of Minnesota

The Immigrant Law Center provides representation in immigration matters for low-income clients of all nationalities in the State of Minnesota. Clients are assisted in the following areas: family petitioning, asylum, deportation and removal defense, issues of arrest and bonds, applying for U.S. Citizenship, special cases under the Violence Against Women Act, U-Visas, and other immigration matters.  Our staff provides  direct legal repsresentaiton in these areas, as well as advocacy efforts and educational outreach to help serve low-income immigrants and refugees in Minnesota.

In addition to the work of our staff attorneys, ILCM has a Pro Bono Project, through which volunteers assist clients with various immigration cases. ILCM provides pre-screened cases, comprehensive training, ongoing mentorship, and administrative support where needed for volunteers. No previous exerience wth immigration law is needed and foreign language proficiency is not required for volunteers. Currently ILCM has several pro bono project, including: The Naturalization Project (Naturaliation Applications), the Citizenship for Children Project (Derivation of Citizenship Applications), the Crime Victim Relief Project (U Visa and U Visa Adjustment Applications), and the DREAMer Proejct (DACA and DACA Renewal Applications).  The ILCM Pro Bono Project also adds new programming to address emergency needs in the community and new remedies  that are announced by U.S. Immigration and Citizenship Services.
