Formerly known as CLSACC (Community Legal Services and Counseling Center), De Novo provides free civil legal assistance and affordable psychological counseling for people with low incomes. Since our inception, we have been sustained by the commitment and dedication of volunteer lawyers and mental health professionals. Today, De Novo is the only volunteer-based agency of its kind in the area, combining legal assistance with mental health counseling. Our unique interdisciplinary approach has enabled De Novo to keep pace with the ever-changing and interrelated needs of our clients.
De Novo offers legal pro bono opportunities in immigration, family law, housing and disability practice areas.

De Novo offers intensive training opportunities and hands-on supervision and mentoring designed to meet the specific needs of each pro bono volunteer through the life of the case. We offer vouchers for MCLE trainings (which reduce the fee to $25 per session); provide malpractice insurance for De Novo cases; provide office space for meeting clients and for case preparation, as needed, and consultation with the Center's mental health staff about client needs and support.
