Tax Assistance Project

Tax Assistance Project

Legal Services of North Florida (LSNF) is funded through the IRS to hold Low-Income Taxpayer Clinics (LITC) to inform low-income and English as a Second Language (ESL) taxpayers about their tax rights and responsibilities, and provide representation and/or referral of low-income clients who have controversies with the IRS. This includes educating low-income and ESL taxpayers about the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) and their tax rights and responsibilities through a public awareness campaign during the early tax season. Tax clinics are developed for low-income and ESL taxpayers and are conducted in Spanish as well as English at community sites in Leon, Gadsden, Calhoun, and Jackson Counties during non-working hours to better serve the taxpayers.

Taxpayers from Jefferson, Wakulla, Leon, Franklin, Liberty, Gadsden, Calhoun, Jackson, Escambia and Santa Rosa counties can apply for free assistance at the home office of Legal Services of North Florida in Tallahassee or the branch offices in Quincy or Pensacola.

Tax advice will also be available throughout the community at various scheduled locations in order to make assistance more available to those with no means of transportation and for those who speak English as a second language. Public service agencies are urged to participate by hosting clinics.
