Organization Description:


Family Violence Law Center (FVLC) is a nonprofit organization serving domestic violence victims and their children throughout Alameda County. Last year, FVLC provided legal, support, and crisis intervention services to over 7,000 women and their families.

Pro Bono Project Description:


Domestic Violence Restraining Order Representation Project

Pro bono attorneys and certified law students, under the supervision of a staff attorney, provide limited scope representation at temporary and permanent restraining order hearings to domestic violence victims. Attorneys, law students, and paralegals also assist pro per litigants with restraining order paperwork preparation at FVLC's clinics. Pro bono attorneys and students additionally conduct legal screenings, consultation and individual client appointments, and legal research. Volunteers receive training and ongoing mentorship and support.
