Defending Immigration Partnership 6th National Training on Immigration Consequences of Criminal Convictions

This intensive, two-day, tuition-free national training to provide criminal defenders representing indigent clients with the tools necessary to comply with the U.S. Supreme Court's decision in Padilla v. Kentucky, strategies to mitigate the immigration consequences of criminal cases, and methods to institutionalize the Padilla advisal in defender offices. Ideal nominees are motivated defenders who will act as point persons on immigration consequences in their home jurisdictions, including in-house immigration point persons in public defender offices and other resource persons supporting public defenders on immigration-related issues.
