Director of Corporate Sponsorships and Communications
Pro Bono Net, a national nonprofit organization using innovative technology to increase legal assistance for the poor, seeks a Director of Corporate Sponsorships and Communications to oversee its new corporate sponsorship program and the organizations strategic communications activities. This position reports to the Executive Director and is based in New York City.
Background
Pro Bono Net works in close partnership with nonprofit legal organizations across the country to increase access to justice for poor and moderate-income people. It seeks to do so through (i) supporting the innovative and effective use of technology by the nonprofit legal sector, (ii) increasing participation by volunteers, and (iii) facilitating collaborations among nonprofit legal organizations and advocates working on similar issues or in the same region.
Thirty states and regions currently use Pro Bono Nets web based platforms to provide self-help legal resources for low-income persons facing legal problems, as well as online support forums for more than 26,000 legal advocates working on behalf of the poor. Our members include thousands of private attorneys from 98 of the nations top 100 law firms, and lawyers from public interest legal organizations around the country.
With funding from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the organization has recently launched a corporate sponsorship program focused on the companies that market technology products and services to large law firms.

Responsibilities
Define and develop overall strategy for and grow organizations national corporate sponsorship program:
o initiate, negotiate, manage, and fulfill sponsorship packages
o work closely with existing sponsors to continuously identify and cultivate new, mutually beneficial opportunities for collaboration
o identify additional cause marketing ideas, industry categories and markets to pursue
o conduct evaluation of sponsorship program to ensure sponsor satisfaction
o work with one or more subcommittees of Board of Directors related to sponsorship program
o produce annual grant report on sponsorship achievements for submission to Gates Foundation
Oversee organizations communications, marketing and public relations activities to improve Pro Bono Nets national and regional visibility:
o develop and implement all marketing strategies and publicity campaigns
o develop story ideas, write and distribute news releases, and work with media to secure press coverage
o develop and maintain media contacts list
o oversee creation of collateral materials for organizations overall services and initiatives o edit quarterly newsletter
Attend conferences and tradeshows and organize in-person and virtual meetings and demonstrations
Provide support to Executive Director on additional fundraising endeavors as needed
Some travel required
Candidate Qualifications
Undergraduate degree required. Graduate degree (e.g. MBA, JD) a plus
5+ years marketing, communications or corporate relations/sales experience
Experience securing and managing corporate sponsorships or equivalent accounts/relationships
Proven success in conceiving and implementing marketing/communications/public relations strategies
Demonstrated ability to work well with people and coordinate team projects
Excellent written and oral communications skills, and confidence speaking publicly
Strong project management skills
Creativity and vision
Web-savvy and fluency in the discussion of web-based tools required; knowledge of online marketing/advertising preferred
Experience with nonprofit organizations; technology/internet or legal sectors; and/or fundraising/development a plus
Independent, self starter who is comfortable working in an entrepreneurial, start-up paced organization
Sense of humor and excellent interpersonal skills
