Pro Bono Net Director of Program Delivery

Position Overview

Pro Bono Net (PBN), a national nonprofit organization using innovative technology to increase legal assistance for low income and vulnerable communities, seeks a highly qualified candidate to join our team as Director of Program Delivery. The Director of Program Delivery will have overall strategic and operational responsibility for the execution of PBN's programs and partnerships that leverage web-based tools to increase access to justice and strengthen the impact of nonprofit legal organizations, courts and community-based organizations. Serving as an integral member of the senior management team, the Director of Program Delivery will oversee the design and delivery of  PBN's program services, including supervising a diverse program team of lawyers, field support coordinators, content managers and product specialists based in New York, San Francisco and remote offices. This position will also liaise with the CTO and senior technology staff on technology strategies.

Program Design  

·         Oversee strategic direction, goals and annual work plans for program services and activities.

·         Work with CTO and program managers to create and advance product road maps aligned with strategic vision and community needs.

·         Support the Fundraising/Resource Development team on new project and funding proposals to support strategic vision and collaborations with field partners.

·         Develop and implement strategies to maximize the synergies among program areas. 

·         Manage the intake and staffing of pilot initiatives, for example online triage and virtual pro bono initiatives. 

Program Delivery

·         Supervise program managers and coordinators, and oversee the provision of high-quality project development, technical assistance and training services to field partners.

·         Work with Director of Technology and program staff on priority-setting and allocation of shared tech team resources as needed.

·         Work the program and tech teams to ensure the timely completion and reporting on grant milestones and service agreements.

·         Work with Executive Director to develop contracts for new grants and service agreements.

·         Facilitate effective use of remote collaboration and knowledge-sharing systems within the program team.

·         Represent PBN to key external constituencies, including participation in conferences, panels and strategy-related meetings.

Program Administration

·         Oversee the development and management of program budgets; track and manage program fee revenue to ensure timely payments.

·         Oversee recruitment and hiring of new program staff and VISTAs; support professional development activities and effective team dynamics.

·         Serve as program staff point of contact during position turnover, as needed.

·         Work with Director of Administration to implement performance review processes.

·         Work with Executive Director to prepare program updates for quarterly Board meetings and relevant Advisory Board and subcommittee meetings.

·         Serve as point of contact on general organizational updates for PBN program staff located across the country.

Qualifications

·         JD or advanced degree in a related knowledge field such as public policy or community technology.  

·         5+ years of relevant experience working with legal aid, pro bono or access to justice organizations.

·         Web-savvy and fluent in the discussion of web-based tools; demonstrated ability and strong interest in using technology to support innovative approaches to service delivery.

·         Strong leadership and management skills, with demonstrated ability to lead teams involving on-site and remote collaborators, work well with people, and foster and facilitate collaboration.

·         Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with superior attention to detail.

·         Highly organized, with ability to multitask, establish priorities and achieve results.

·         Strength in hiring, managing and developing individuals, and in facilitating effective team dynamics.

·         Ability to thrive and be resourceful in a dynamic environment with new challenges to solve.

·         Willingness and ability to travel several times a year.
