Pro Bono Net Welcomes New Board Members
Aric Press of ALM and Nick Baughan of Marks Baughan & Co. Join the Board
NEW YORK (June 20, 2012) - Pro Bono Net, a national, nonprofit leader in innovative programs that increase access to justice, is pleased to announce that Aric Press, Vice President, Editor in Chief at ALM and Nick Baughan, Managing Member at Marks Baughan & Co., have joined the Board of Directors.
Pro Bono Net works to transform the way legal help reaches the poor through innovative technology and collaboration. It partners with legal aid organizations to promote collaboration and maximize their impact on justice issues, connects lawyers with resources to increase pro bono involvement, and provides critical legal assistance and information directly to the public.
Press, formerly editor in chief of the American Lawyer, came to ALM in 1998 from Newsweek where he spent 19 years, ten as an editor and nine years as Newsweek’s justice writer. ALM, an integrated media company, is a leading provider of specialized business news and information, focused primarily on the legal and commercial real estate sectors. Under his leadership, The American Lawyer has won numerous national journalism awards from the American Society of Business Publication Editors and the Jesse H. Neal National Business Journalism Awards program.
“It’s a privilege to join the board of the pro bono organization for the 21st century, Pro Bono Net. I’ve long admired its remarkable efforts to expand legal services to those least able to afford or obtain them,” said Press.
Baughan is a Managing Member of Marks Baughan & Co., a boutique investment bank with an extensive track record of advising market leading organizations in the legal technology industry. Prior to co-founding Marks Baughan & Co. in 2004, Baughan was a senior member of the Credit Suisse First Boston Technology Group (CSFB Technology Group) where he ran the Technology Services banking effort based in Palo Alto and New York.

The two join 17 other members of the Pro Bono Net board, including representatives of leading law firms, legal services organizations and companies including Microsoft, Bank of America, and LexisNexis.
