Lagos — ABOUT 120 law firms have signed up for Lagos State Government's pro bono legal service aimed at providing free legal service for the poor and less privileged residents of the state.

Speaking at a forum, Lagos Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice, Ade Ipaye, said that response to the scheme had been positive.

The state last month expanded the scheme by encouraging private law firms to sign up for the initiative.

"We are excited that more lawyers are now joining our pro bono service initiative. In the last one month, about 120 law firms have signed up for the programme. We believe that with this kind of response, cases of injustices caused by lack of legal representation will now be properly addressed," he said.
