Wednesday, May 01, 2013

  • Southeast Louisiana Legal Services, in partnership with Louisiana Appleseed, has launched a new practice area to support advocates working on foreclosure issues.
The Mortgage Settlement practice area features a practice library of forms and other documents for lawyers and staff to support consistency and quality of service for the critical needs of those facing loss of a home. The practice area also hosts news, events, e-mail groups and other features to serve this important niche of the access to justice community. Membership in this practice area is for public interest and pro bono attorneys providing legal assistance for those affected by the National Mortgage Settlement, in partnership with the Office of the Louisiana Attorney General and Louisiana Bar Foundation.

“We are grateful to the Office of the Louisiana Attorney General and Louisiana Bar Foundation for forming this collaborative – bringing together state-wide agencies such as legal services, the Louisiana Civil Justice Center and Louisiana Appleseed – to ensure quality, consistent legal representation for affected Louisiana residents,” said Christy Kane, Executive Director of Louisiana Appleseed.

Southeast Louisiana Legal Services administers, Louisiana’s online resource for public interest lawyers and advocates.
Louisiana Appleseed is part of a nonprofit network of 17 public interest justice centers in the United States and Mexico.
