Pittsburgh homeless receive legal help and start seeing 'some relief and hope'

Monday, January 11, 2010

"Pittsburgh homeless receive legal help and start seeing 'some relief and hope'," from the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

Subhead: "Project HELP gives the homeless in Allegheny County free access to an attorney to help them 'navigate through the legal system.' The response from homeless people has been 'overwhelming.'"

The story credits a New Orleans judge with starting the program: "It was modeled on the original program, founded by a judge in New Orleans five years ago. Similar programs are now available in 16 other cities across the country."
