A new nonprofit organization, the Family Violence Appellate Project, now exists to appeal cases on behalf of domestic violence survivors in California. But how do you make sure your cases are handled properly in the trial court so an appeal is possible? This presentation will cover the Top 10 steps to take at the trial level to ensure the record is properly set and the case is positioned so an appeal is possible in the event you receive an adverse outcome at trial. While the presentation will focus on domestic violence and family law cases, all of the tips are applicable to other types of cases as well, so practitioners in other fields are welcome.
