Pro Bono Net News

Like many of you, Pro Bono Net's thoughts are with those in Texas and Louisiana impacted by Hurricane Harvey. As an advocate for justice, you no doubt share our concerns about the disproportionate and long-term impact disasters often have on low-income and other vulnerable communities. Legal aid programs help survivors rebuild their lives and navigate the road to recovery, including applying for disaster benefits, replacing wills and vital documents, making insurance claims, combatting contractor fraud and scams, and more. Click here to learn more about how you can get involved!

#STANDWITHIMMIGRANTS is a collaboration between Pro Bono Net, the Immigration Advocates Network (IAN) and other leading immigrants' rights organizations that works to engage lawyers and other professionals around the country in skill-based volunteering to protect the rights of immigrants. Take the pledge, find volunteer opportunities in your area, and get access to the resources and training you need,  here.

The Legal Services Corporation (LSC), Microsoft Corporation, and Pro Bono Net have named Alaska and Hawaii as state partners in a pilot program to develop online, statewide legal portals to direct individuals with civil legal needs to the most appropriate forms of assistance! Pro Bono Net Executive Director Mark O'Brien, Microsoft President and Chief Legal Officer Brad Smith, and LSC President James J. Sandman made the formal announcement and discussed the project at the LSC forum on increasing access to justice at Georgetown University Law Center.

The Need For Pro Bono

The need for legal services among the poor is overwhelming. According to an American Bar Association study, at least 40% of low and moderate-income households experience a legal problem each year. Yet studies show that the collective civil legal aid effort is meeting only about 20% of the legal needs of low-income people.

Who We Are
