Louisiana Capital Assistance Center, New Orleans, LA, Seeks Staff Attorneys for Capital and Systemic Post-Katrina Litigation

The Louisiana Capital Assistance Center (LCAC) is a non-profit law office providing quality legal representation to impoverished capital defendants in Louisiana, Mississippi and Texas, primarily at the trial level but also in state and federal post-conviction proceedings. The LCAC also engages in systemic litigation to reform the criminal justice system in Louisiana and the deep South.

The LCAC seeks to hire multiple new attorneys to staff capital cases as well as to pursue systemic litigation to enforce criminal defendants' right to counsel in the hurricane-affected areas in Louisiana. We are looking for both more and less experienced attorneys. Criminal and/or civil rights litigation experience is desirable. Salaries are dependent upon experience.

Please send a cover letter, writing sample, references and resume to the attention of Kim Watts at kimw@thejusticecenter.org, or via fax to 504-558-0378.

We will be accepting applications on a rolling basis until the positions are filled. We will not offer positions to any candidates before February 22, 2006.

For more information about the LCAC, please see our website at http://www.thejusticecenter.org/lcac.
