The California Office of the State Public Defender (OSPD) is accepting applications from experienced attorneys interested in providing representation to death row inmates in state appellate and post-conviction proceedings as a Deputy State Public Defender. OSPD is seeking attorneys with a demonstrated commitment to indigent criminal defense, excellent academic credentials, strong analytical skills and demonstrated proficiency in legal writing and research. The ideal candidate will have significant prior appellate or post-conviction experience in homicide and death penalty cases. OSPD has positions open in both its Sacramento and San Francisco offices.
