JOB ANNOUNCEMENT Development Director Texas Defender Service Texas Defender Service (TDS) is seeking a Development Director. TDS is a private, 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to improving the quality of legal representation provided to those facing the death penalty in Texas. TDS directly represents death row inmates, consults in capital cases at all phases of the proceedings, participates in attorney training, and conducts research and data collection projects regarding the application of the death penalty in Texas. TDS has offices in Houston and Austin. The Development Director could be located in either office. SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES: - Responsible for fundraising activities and management - Designs, manages all fundraising events - Engages board in fundraising, coordinates fundraising committee meetings/tasks - Coordinates development of proposals and narrative reports - Designs, writes, manages all direct mail appeals, - Manages development & maintenance of donor databases QUALIFICATIONS: Fundraising campaign management, event planning, donor cultivation and relations, experience with grant/contract management and/or reporting, extreme attention to detail, highly organized, commitment to our mission, and ability to multitask under pressure. SALARY AND BENEFITS: Salary is commensurate with experience, range of $40,000-$55,000, benefits package provided.
