OFFICE OF CAPITAL WRITS - AUSTIN, TEXAS (Reposting)

The newly formed OFFICE OF CAPITAL WRITS, located in Austin, Texas, is accepting applications for a Staff Attorney I.

The Office of Capital Writs (“OCW”) is a newly created state-funded, state-wide office which began operation on September 1, 2010. The OCW is a capital post-conviction office, charged with representing death sentenced persons in state post-conviction habeas corpus and related proceedings. All members of the office will provide quality representation to capital defendants as described by the Guidelines and Standards for Texas Capital Counsel.

Desired Qualifications:
Staff Attorney I:
- Membership or eligibility for admission to the Texas Bar
- Commitment to the defense of death-sentenced individuals
- Commitment to a team based litigation approach
- Superior research and writing skills
- 0 to 3 years experience

Salary: commensurate with qualifications and years of experience.
