EMPLOYMENT ANNOUNCEMENT

STAFF ATTORNEY AND INVESTIGATOR POSITIONS

The Virginia Capital Representation Resource Center is accepting applications for Staff Attorney and Investigator positions. VCRRC is a not-for-profit law firm operating since 1992 representing people sentenced to death in Virginia and providing assistance and educational resources to appointed and pro bono counsel in capital cases. Direct representation is focused on post-conviction litigation in state and federal courts. VCRRC has cases throughout Virginia and travel is required.

Successful "people" skills, a willingness to learn diverse subject matter, and an ability to work cooperatively and independently are needed. Applicants with significant litigation experience as well as those with less experience but with the ability to develop quickly are encouraged to apply. Recent capital experience in trial or post-conviction litigation is a plus. Candidates should have strong research and writing skills. Investigation will include issues related to guilt/innocence as well as capital sentencing. Attorney applicants must be admitted to the Virginia Bar, eligible for admission, or willing to take the Virginia Bar exam by Summer 2009.

VCRRC is located in Charlottesville, Virginia, and operates a Clinical Program at the School of Law at the University of Virginia. VCRRC is an equal opportunity employer. Salary is based on experience. Health and other benefits provided.
