JOB POSTING: Forensic Social Historian (mitigation specialist)

The Office of the State Appellate Defender, Post Conviction Unit, is
seeking a full time Forensic Social Historian (mitigation specialist) to
assist attorneys representing death row inmates in post-conviction
proceedings in courts throughout Illinois. Duties include compiling
detailed social histories, conducting witness interviews, and evaluating
mental health issues. The minimum educational requirement is a masters
degree in Social Work or equivalent, and Licensed Clinical Social Workers
are preferred. Additional preferred qualifications include prior
experience as a mitigation specialist, or clinical experience working with
prison inmates or other disadvantaged populations. Candidate must possess
strong organizational, writing and computer skills. Position is located in
downtown Chicago, but also involves travel.
