INNOCENCE PROJECT seeks STAFF ATTORNEY (with 1-3 years of experience)

The Innocence Project seeks a staff attorney to handle a post-conviction docket dealing with DNA-based innocence claims.

The Innocence Project, affiliated with the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law at Yeshiva University, was founded by Barry C. Scheck and Peter J.

Neufeld in 1992 as a non-profit legal clinic and criminal justice resource center. We work to exonerate the wrongfully convicted through postconviction DNA testing; and develop and implement reforms to prevent wrongful convictions. This Project only handles cases where postconviction DNA testing can yield conclusive proof of innocence. For more information about the Project, please go to

The staff attorney, working under the supervision of a Managing Attorney and the Innocence Project Co-Directors, will represent clients in various states around the nation seeking access to post-conviction DNA testing and/or relief from their convictions based on exculpatory DNA test results. The staff attorney will also supervise clinic students who assist in the representation of the clients.

Candidates must be able to be able to work independently in a fast-paced environment, have excellent analytic and writing skills, and be committed to social justice. Candidates should have one to three years of litigation experience, preferably some of it criminal (whether trial or postconviction practice). Admission to one or more state bars required.
