Description:
This program is intended for law students and attorneys who are currently representing or are interested in representing death-row inmates in post-conviction proceedings.  It features a keynote lecture, nationally recognized death penalty experts, and includes a review of recent Supreme Court decisions, an update on lethal injection litigation, and a presentation on developing race-based mitigation in post-conviction and habeas proceedings. The CLE program will be followed by the Capital Punishment Committee's annual Redlich Awards, which will be presented this year to Christina Swarns, President and Attorney-in-Charge of the Office of the Appellate Defenders, and Kirkland & Ellis LLP.
