On April 3rd, the National Federation of Paralegal Associations (NFPA) conferred upon the National Capital Area Paralegal Association (NCAPA) its 2004 Association Pro Bono Award. NCAPA's President, Andrea Lupanze, RP, accepted it at NFPA's Annual Convention in Nashville on behalf of the 17 local paralegals who contributed over 2,000 hours of clinical pro bono work to the poor and otherwise-disadvantaged in the DC metropolitan area. Along with this prestigious award, NFPA donated $500 to the DC Employment Justice Center, a principal local workers' rights organization for which four NCAPA paralegals volunteered over 200 hours in 2003. NFPA is the premiere national paralegal organization that represents 55 local associations and some 15,000 members. Its website is www.paralegals.org. NCAPA is the DC metropolitan area's 500-member paralegal organization. For more information about NCAPA and its role in the DC legal community, please consult www.ncapa.com.
