New Volunteer Training: Litigating Civil Protection Order Cases for Domestic Violence Survivors

Topics:
  • Legal Skills
  • Family / DV

This training will prepare attorneys to represent domestic violence survivors in cases to obtain civil protection orders (CPOs) against their abusers.

CPO cases provide supervised in-court litigation experience in a short time frame, while helping survivors and their children to escape violence. On average, these cases last just 8-12 days. Topics include: dynamics of DV; the Intra-Family Offenses Act; interviewing clients; obtaining evidence; and handling contested hearings.
