DCVLP Training: Representing Domestic Violence Survivors in Custody/Divorce Cases

Topics:
  • Family / DV

The DC Volunteer Lawyers Project will present a training program on representing domestic violence survivors in custody and divorce cases in DC Superior Court. Topics covered include: dynamics of domestic violence, an overview of custody, child support, divorce and property law; and practice and procedure. Custody and divorce cases present an excellent opportunity to learn a full range of litigation skills, including discovery, motions, settlement negotiations and trial preparation, while helping domestic violence survivors achieve safe and stable homes for themselves and their children.

Note: for lawyers who prefer not to handle divorce cases, we have many cases involving custody representation only.

WHEN: Wednesday, Feb. 26th, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. (lunch included)

WHERE: Steptoe & Johnson LLP, 1330 Connecticut Ave., NW

RSVP: to Ashley Badgley, abadgley@dcvlp.org, no later than Feb. 24th.
