This seminar provides strategies to help legal permanent residents (LPRs) maintain their LPR status while overseas, including: limiting absences from the United States; applying for reentry permits; maintaining financial ties to the United States; and tax considerations. The panel also explores advising permanent residents who want to avoid breaking their continuity of residence for naturalization purposes. Finally, the panelists discuss how to advise those who wish to relinquish their permanent residency.
